Book Review: The Skeptic’s Duet by Halcie Dawn

Book Review: The Skeptic’s Duet by Halcie Dawn

Halcie Dawn, ma’am. You’ve done it again. These duets?! You crush me every time with that first book, making it physically impossible to pause before diving straight into the second.

I read The Skeptic’s Duet in under 48 hours. Why? Because once Halcie has your soul, she does not give it back. I’m still emotionally unstable from The Reality Duet...that one wrecked me...but this duet brought a new flavor of pain. Humor. Which somehow makes the heartbreak worse?? (Rude, but effective.)

Merit and Holt? Both skeptical. Both scarred. Both trying so hard not to fall—and failing beautifully. Watching their love story unfold felt earned. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is tossed in for drama. And Halcie’s biggest flex? The past isn’t just backstory—it’s a main character. Every thread she weaves. She pulls it back later with purpose. Every callback hits. Every side character is fleshed out and screaming for a spin-off.

This duet has everything I want:

Angst? Yep.

Mystery? You bet.

Suspense? Jaw-clenching.

Cliffhangers? Halcie really said “good luck sleeping tonight.”

Read these back-to-back. Trust me. You’ll need the closure.
And when that HEA finally hits? Worth. Every. Tear.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Coming to the shop soon :)
